Skokie has many marijuana dispensaries that sell a range of cannabis products. But how can you be certain the store you’re visiting is legal?
To locate a legitimate Skokie dispensary, first, make sure it is licensed by the state. Secondly, review their menu to guarantee their prices are competitively low.
Greenhouse
Greenhouse, situated inside a former bank building at 10000 Skokie Boulevard in Chicago’s northwest suburbs, is the first recreational marijuana dispensary to open under Illinois’ legalization of adult use of cannabis earlier this year. Owned by Grassroots Companies – described as “the largest privately held cannabis company” – Greenhouse is operated under an Illinois law that legalized adult cannabis consumption earlier this year.
Cannabis Facility Construction (CFC), a national full-service design and build firm that has constructed more than 30 cultivation centers, processing laboratories, and retail dispensaries customized for medical cannabis clients in nine different states, constructed this facility. CFC’s work was complemented by exterior infrastructure improvements around Skokie Boulevard with natural landscaping, a retention pond, a large parking lot, and a new turn lane from Skokie Boulevard.
Greenhouse cultivates and sells a wide selection of cannabis products, such as flowers, vapes, extracts, oils, topicals, concentrates, and edibles. With twelve point-of-sale stations set up with social distancing parameters in place, the shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Curaleaf
Curaleaf is a medical and adult-use dispensary that offers various cannabis products such as flowers, disposable vape carts, cartridges, edibles, and more. They offer discounts and other promotions like free refills with certain strain purchases.
Greenhouse, situated on a main thoroughfare across from Old Orchard Mall, exudes an inviting vibe that encourages inclusivity. The facility was designed to offer adults 21 and older the opportunity to explore the latest marijuana products such as flowers, vapes, extracts/oils, topicals, and concentrates in one convenient location.
At present, the property is under a 20-year lease with Marengo Cannabis LLC – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Millennium Cannabis. Under this agreement, the operator must maintain a licensed medical marijuana operation in accordance with all municipal and state regulations.
Sunnyside
Cresco Labs, which owns five existing medical dispensaries in Illinois and plans to open five more when recreational pot becomes legal on January 1, is rebranding its dispensaries into wellness-oriented retail spaces. This move seeks to alter the perception of cannabis by making it more like a national wellness chain.
Sunnyside stores will be designed to replicate Sephora and Apple Stores, with design ideas that invite customers into an inviting atmosphere. Caltabiano says his company aims to create a “non-stressful” shopping experience with high-quality products like Whole Foods or Sephora stores.
On Monday, Sunnyside Store Lake View opened its doors just a short hop away from Wrigley Field, serving both casual herb connoisseurs and medical marijuana patients alike. Housed in 10,000 square feet of space in what used to be John Barleycorn restaurant, this 10,000 square foot shop serves both casual and medical marijuana patients alike.
Grassroots
Grassroots is one of the nation’s largest cannabis cultivators and retailers, operating across 12 states from its base in Chicago, Illinois.
Recently, the company was acquired by Curaleaf Holdings for $875 million – another milestone on the way to creating the national marijuana industry’s biggest mega-merger. It is anticipated to close by 2020 subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Grassroots faced the daunting task of maintaining product supply and retail sales while adhering to stringent protocols regarding cannabis handling and storage. Furthermore, they needed to create a consistent customer experience as they moved from being a state-specific business to an integrated multi-state operation.
To meet their objectives, Grassroots hired Cannabis Facility Construction – a full-service national design-build cannabis construction firm based in Northbrook. In May the company started building its new recreational and medical dispensary at 755 Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook on the vacant site that once housed the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago; this will serve as its national flagship location.
