Curaleaf Edgewater Park in Bordentown Township, Massachusetts is an amazing attraction for tourists and locals. The park has a beautiful boardwalk, playground, and restaurant. It is a great place to relax, and enjoy a meal or drink while watching the water.
Recreational Sales
The Curaleaf Edgewater Park location is one of the state’s thirteen recreational marijuana sales outlets. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission ruled last month that the site is ready to roll. Although a cursory glance at the current list of approved locations indicates that five are still waiting on the green light, a quick Google search yielded a tidy ten.
There’s a reason the Curaleaf name is on the lips of aspiring retailers and weed enthusiasts alike. They have the expertise and the know-how to get the job done. In addition, the company is a subsidiary of Green Thumb Industries, a multi-state cannabis cultivation and retail conglomerate that already has a presence in Paramus.
There’s a reason the site has only been open since February. While the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission has granted more than a dozen retail licenses so far, only three have been approved by local authorities. So, there’s plenty of work to be done.
Plans For Bordentown Township, Massachusetts
The new Curaleaf Edgewater Park dispensary is the second to open in New Jersey this year. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for tomorrow. This location will also begin offering adult-use sales.
Earlier this year, Curaleaf received approval from the township planning board for its plans to open a recreational marijuana store. They plan to make some modifications to the property. They expect to hire about 40 employees.
The company is interested in two parcels of land totaling four acres. Its current plans include the building that once held a martial arts academy.
In addition to the Edgewater Park facility, Curaleaf has also been in the process of obtaining zoning approval for a dispensary in Mount Laurel. The company has not responded to a request for comments.
Curaleaf holds a license to sell medical marijuana in the state of New Jersey. In addition, it already operates a dispensary in Bellmawr. Despite this, the company has expressed interest in opening a storefront in Bordentown.
Unionization in The New Jersey Cannabis Industry
New Jersey cannabis industry workers are experiencing a surge in union momentum. Four multistate operators have agreed to unionize and other companies are in negotiations for the first time.
The New Jersey state law has provisions explicitly designed to boost the power of unions in the cannabis industry. These provisions include requirements that businesses must enter into labor peace agreements and that applicants must invite union representatives onto private property. There are also incentives for businesses to sign these agreements.
Labor Peace Agreements ensure that the company will not interfere with union organizing efforts. Workers are protected from being fired without cause and generally enjoy higher wages and benefits.
A new report from the Economic Policy Institute outlines the benefits of unionization. According to the report, cannabis workers could receive thousands of dollars more in wages each year. Moreover, with high standards for job quality, these workers could earn even more.
The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) represents the majority of New Jersey cannabis workers. They represent workers from hospitals, manufacturing facilities, and other retail outlets. In addition, they are dedicated to building a diverse workforce.
