Binnys Downers Grove is an excellent destination to shop for beer, wine and spirits. Their large warehouse-type store features a wide selection of beers as well as wines, glassware and accessories – all accompanied by friendly staff who always put out great customer service. I would say this store has been one of the best Binnys locations I’ve been to so far.
Large Warehouse Type Store
Large warehouse stores are retail establishments that carry an expansive selection of goods, from food to hardware and general merchandise. Prices tend to be lower than smaller stores due to purchasing in bulk and passing along savings to customers. They’re usually found near major highways or shopping malls and often feature larger displays and overhead lighting that may not be found elsewhere. A well designed display can be effective at showcasing a product’s most desirable attributes – especially liquor displays which may be eye-catching but difficult when trying to locate your favorite beverage.
Wide Selection of Beers
Binnys Downers Grove is a large warehouse-style store with an excellent selection of beers. They carry Belgians, US craft and many European varieties. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable; prices are fair as well.
The beer section at this store is quite small, but they carry most of the standard beers as well as some specialty brands like Flying Dog, Brooklyn Goose and Allagash Line. Plus they have an impressive Belgian beer selection with beers like AK or Pride and Joy available.
They offer an impressive selection of wine and spirits. Their beer selection is perhaps their strongest asset, making this store a go-to spot for local residents in this area. There’s also an impressive keg rack that’s well stocked. While not as expansive as Binnys South Loop or Glen Ellyn stores, their beer selection still provides plenty of beer choices.
Good Selection of Wines
Binnys Downers Grove is one of 24 area Binnys liquor stores that boast an impressive selection of wines. This store has an excellent wine department as well as various spirits to choose from; the only issue I noticed was that there wasn’t a large singles rack which would’ve made things better! Otherwise, Binnys offers great prices on quality wines at reasonable prices. Plus, you can take advantage of their wonderful wine club which you’re sure to love!
Crain’s reports that Sam’s Wine & Spirits, a Chicago liquor store chain, is set to be acquired by Skokie-based Binny’s Beverage Depot for an undisclosed sum in October. After years of fierce pricing battles between the two chains, Sam’s will close both their South Loop location and Highland Park store.
Friendly Staff
Binnys is an exciting place to shop for wine, beer and spirits. Though it may seem large and confusing at first glance, their staff of friendly employees is more than happy to assist you with whatever you need. This store boasts several cool features like a 24-door beer cooler to its wine cellar as well as rare and collectible spirit room. Binny’s also one of few stores around that carry premium liquors from around the globe along with craft beers worth trying as well. Plus they have an impressive selection of bottles so no matter what you’re searching for there will surely be something there!
